JKSSB Opens Applications for 357 Posts in Public Works (R&B) Department: Here Is Everything You Need to Know
The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board has started accepting online applications for 357 posts in the Public Works (R&B) Department. These posts were advertised earlier through Notification No. 06 of 2026 dated 06.07.2026, and JKSSB has now issued a fresh notice explaining exactly how you should fill and submit your application form.
If you are planning to apply, this window matters a lot, so let us walk you through what you actually need to do.
Application Dates You Cannot Miss
You can submit your application and pay the fee between 01.08.2026 (12:00 AM) and 30.08.2026 (11:59 PM). Both the form submission and the fee payment fall within this same window, so there is no separate deadline to track for payment.
Our advice: do not wait for the last few days. JKSSB itself has warned that heavy traffic on the portal close to the closing date can cause login failures or disconnections, and if your payment does not go through in time, your application will not be considered complete.
Who Should Apply
This notice applies to anyone who wants to apply for the 357 advertised posts in Public Works (R&B) Department and who holds a valid Domicile Certificate along with the other eligibility conditions mentioned in the original advertisement.
If you are eyeing the posts of Draftsman (Civil) or Works Supervisor, pay attention here. JKSSB has asked candidates to clearly give their preference for these posts against specific item numbers:
- Draftsman (Civil): Item Nos. 93 and 94
- Works Supervisor: Item Nos. 95 and 96
Make sure you select the correct item number while filling your form, since this determines which post you are actually competing for.
How to Apply, Step by Step
You can only apply online through the official JKSSB website, www.jkssb.nic.in. No other mode of application will be accepted.
Here is how the process works:
- Go to the JKSSB website and click on "Log-in (Apply on Various Posts)".
- If you are a new user, click "New User / Sign Up" and register using a valid email ID and mobile number. You will receive an OTP for verification. If it does not arrive, you can request it again by clicking "Get Activation Code".
- Once your account is activated, log in using the username generated during registration or sent to you in the activation email. Do not try logging in with your email ID instead.
- Complete your One Time Registration (OTR) form. This is a one time process and forms the base of your application.
- After completing OTR, go to "Active Advertisement" and click "Apply" for this recruitment.
- Fill in every column carefully and click "Save & Continue" as you go.
Documents You Need to Upload
Before you sit down to apply, keep these documents and files ready so the process goes smoothly.
Live photograph: JKSSB requires live face capture through your device camera. This is mandatory, and old uploaded photos or screenshots will not work. We have explained the exact requirements in the section below.
Signature: Upload a clear signature between 10 KB and 20 KB in size, with dimensions of 1.5 x 3.5 cm (height x width).
Category Certificate: If you are claiming any category benefit, upload a valid certificate that is within the cutoff date, in PDF format, under 100 KB.
Qualification Certificates: Upload your essential qualification and experience certificates as required for the post you are applying for. These too should be valid within the cutoff date and under 100 KB in PDF format.
One thing worth repeating here: benefits related to category or weightage will only be considered if you have filled them in your application form and you actually possess a valid certificate within the cutoff date. You cannot claim these later if you miss filling them now.
Getting the Live Photo Capture Right
Since this is new and candidates often get it wrong, here is what JKSSB expects during the live face capture:
- Use a working laptop webcam or mobile camera and allow camera access when your browser asks for it.
- Use the latest version of Chrome, Edge, or Firefox for a smooth experience.
- Sit in a well lit area with even lighting on your face. Avoid dark rooms, bright light behind you, or harsh shadows.
- Keep your face centered, straight, and close enough to the camera so it covers most of the frame. Only one face should be visible.
- Do not wear masks, caps, hats, helmets, sunglasses, or anything that covers your face.
If the system rejects your capture, it will show you an on screen message telling you what to fix, such as improving lighting or moving closer. You can retry as many times as needed until it succeeds. Just make sure you do not refresh or close the page while the capture is happening.
Once You Submit, There Is No Going Back
This is important. Once you submit your application, you cannot edit it. Whatever information you fill in will be treated as final for deciding your eligibility, so double check every field before you hit submit. JKSSB has clearly stated that no claim regarding wrong or missing information will be entertained after submission.
Fee Payment
You can pay the application fee using Net Banking, Debit Card, UPI, or Credit Card. Once you complete your form, a "Pay Now" link will appear. After paying, check your dashboard to confirm the fee status shows as "Submitted". An application without a successfully paid fee is considered incomplete.
If you need to raise any payment related representation, remember to include your payee name and account number.
Do You Need to Submit a Hard Copy?
For most candidates, no. You do not need to submit any printout of your application. The only exception is at the Document Verification stage, and that too only for candidates who get shortlisted after the examination.
In service candidates are the exception to this. If you are already employed and applying through this recruitment, you need to submit a printout of your filled online application along with a duly filled, signed, and stamped certificate given at the end of the application form. This must be routed through the proper channel, meaning your employer or department (TPC).
