SKUAST Kashmir Releases Selection Criteria for KVK Non-Teaching Posts

If you applied for a non-teaching post under the Krishi Vighyan Kendras (KVKs) of Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K), you now have clarity on how you will be evaluated. The university has notified the exact marks distribution for each post, so you know precisely what to prepare for and how your final score will be calculated.

This criteria applies to candidates who applied against Advertisement Notice No. 05 of 2026 (dated 20.04.2026) and Notice No. 06 of 2026 (dated 16.06.2026), covering posts advertised under the university's KVKs.

How your score will be calculated

Every post carries a total of 100 marks, but the way those marks are split differs depending on the post you have applied for. In most cases, your score comes from three parts: a written test, your academic qualifications and experience, and an interview. For a couple of posts, only a written test and a qualifying skill test decide your fate.

Here is how it works out for each post.

Subject Matter Specialist

This is the most detailed evaluation among all the posts.

• Written test: 50 marks
• Academic qualification, experience, publications and patents: 30 marks
• Interview: 20 marks

Within that 30 mark academic component, the breakup looks like this:

• Ph.D without course work gets you 6 marks, while a Ph.D with course work gets you up to 10 marks, calculated on a pro rata basis according to your OGPA or percentage of marks
• Your Master's degree can fetch you up to 5 marks, again on a pro rata basis
• Each research publication adds 1 mark, capped at 5 marks
• Each technology or patent to your name adds 2.5 marks, capped at 5 marks
• Extension, research and teaching experience in agriculture from any recognised university or research institute adds 1 mark per year, capped at 5 marks

Farm Manager or Programme Assistant (Laboratory Technician)

• Written test: 65 marks
• Academic qualifications: 15 marks
• Interview: 20 marks

Under academic qualifications, a Master's degree gets you up to 10 marks and a Bachelor's degree gets you up to 5 marks, both calculated on a pro rata basis with reference to your OGPA or percentage of marks.

Programme Assistant (Computer)

• Written test: 60 marks
• Academic qualification and experience: 20 marks
• Interview: 20 marks

If you hold a Master's degree, you get 5 marks, and a Bachelor's degree also gets you 5 marks, both on a pro rata basis. The remaining marks in this category come from your experience of software use, content creation, data handling and visualisation from a recognised university, research institute or government department. You get 2 marks for every year of such experience, up to a maximum of 10 marks.

Assistant

• Written test: 60 marks
• Relevant experience: 10 marks
• Skill or typing test: 10 marks
• Interview: 20 marks

Your experience as an Accountant, Accounts Assistant, Senior Assistant or Junior Assistant in any government, semi government or autonomous body earns you 2 marks per year, up to a maximum of 10 marks.

The typing test has its own conditions that you should note carefully. You need a minimum speed of 35 words per minute and can go up to 60 words per minute, with accuracy of not less than 90 percent. If you type at 60 wpm, you get the full 10 marks. If your speed falls anywhere between 35 and 59 wpm, your marks will be calculated proportionately.

Stenographer and Driver

These two posts follow a simpler pattern.

• Skill or trade test: qualifying in nature, meaning you either clear it or you don't, it does not carry separate marks
• Written test: 100 marks
• Total: 100 marks

So for these posts, your written test score alone decides your final marks, once you have cleared the skill or trade test.

How shortlisting for interview will work

Wherever an interview is part of the selection process, the university will shortlist candidates based on their total marks out of 80, meaning your written test score combined with other parameters like academic qualification will decide whether you get called for interview. Your interview marks themselves are added only after you are shortlisted.

What you should do now

This notice only lays out how you will be assessed once the selection process begins. What you can do is use this breakup to your advantage, if you have research publications, patents, or relevant experience, make sure you are ready to list them out, since these directly add to your score before you even reach the interview stage.
