The University of Kashmir has invited online applications for its B.Tech programmes under the Non JEE category for the 2026 session. If you passed your 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and did not appear for JEE, or simply want an additional route into engineering, this notification is for you. The Directorate of Admissions and Competitive Examinations (DACE) issued the notice on July 23, 2026, and the application window is short, so it helps to know exactly what you need to do and by when.
Important Dates You Should Not Miss
You can submit your online application from July 24, 2026 to July 30, 2026. That is just a week, so we would suggest you do not wait for the last day. The university itself has warned that it will not be responsible if you miss out because of last minute server rush.
If your application fee status is not updated to "Fee Received" within three days of submitting, you should raise a query online. And if that query does not get resolved, you have until July 31, 2026 to visit the IT Cell near Rumi Gate with your form, fee receipt and documents. After that date, the university says it will not entertain any claims.

The seats are spread across two campuses, and each branch has its own set of categories open for this Non JEE round.

Notice that some branches, like Civil or the two Computer Science programmes at Zakura, do not have an OM (Open Merit) seat listed here. So if you belong to the general open category, you should check carefully which specific branches actually have a category you are eligible for before you apply.
Who Can Apply
You need to have passed your 10+2 (Higher Secondary Part II) from the J&K Board of School Education, or any other recognised board, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as your subjects. The minimum marks required are 50% for Open Category candidates and 45% for Reserved Category candidates.
If you studied PCB instead of PCM but also appeared for the Mathematics exam and your result is still awaited, you can still apply. The university allows this on a provisional basis, but you take on the responsibility yourself, and you will need to clear the eligibility conditions by August 31, 2026.

How Selection Will Work
This is where it helps to understand where you stand in the pecking order:
- Candidates who have a valid JEE (Mains) score get preference first.
- Among the remaining candidates, those who qualify KUET (Kashmir University Entrance Test) are selected against the vacancies left.
- If the number of KUET qualified candidates is less than the seats available, selection then falls back on your percentage in the 12th class qualifying exam.
- If a seat falls vacant at any later stage, it first goes to the JEE waiting list, and only after that to candidates who applied through this Non JEE notification.
- If no candidate is available in a particular reserved category, that seat moves to the OM category and is given to a waiting list candidate.
In simple terms, this Non JEE window is largely your route in if you do not have a JEE score, but your final selection still depends on how KUET results and 12th percentage play out against the seats left after JEE candidates are accommodated.
Application Fee
You will need to pay a non refundable online fee of Rs 900 as part of your submission.
How to Apply, Step by Step
We have broken the university's process down into simple steps so you know exactly what comes next:
- Visit www.kashmiruniversity.net or www.kashmiruniversity.ac.in and click on the Admissions link. Read the instructions carefully before you start.
- Register yourself first by clicking on "Register as Student." Keep your username and password safe, you will need them again.
- Log in using your Registration Number and click Next.
- Fill in your personal and academic details, and upload a recent passport size photograph, then click Next.
- Select your preferences for campus or programme wherever applicable. Once the last date passes, you will not be able to change these preferences, so choose carefully.
- Review everything. If you spot an error, go back using the Previous button, correct it, and only then click Submit.
- Pay the Rs 900 online fee. Take a printout of your form and note down the Form Number, you may need it later.
- Log back in with your username and password after a few days to check your Application Status. It should show "Fee Received."
You do not need to send a hard copy of your form or fee receipt to the university. Just keep a printed copy with you for your own records.
A Few Things Worth Knowing
The university will not verify your academic or category certificates at the time of online submission. That verification happens later, at your department, once you are provisionally selected. So it is entirely on you to be sure you actually meet the eligibility criteria before applying. If it later turns out you did not meet the criteria, or you hid or misrepresented any information, your admission can be cancelled even after provisional selection.
Also worth remembering: admission through this notification is still subject to the university's Admission Policy 2026, which decides the final eligibility for each programme.
