IUST Kashmir Walk in Interview for Assistant Professor Post in Design Innovation Centre

The Islamic University of Science and Technology, Kashmir has announced a walk in interview for the contractual engagement of Assistant Professor in the Design Innovation Centre. If you hold a design or architecture background and you have been looking for a teaching opportunity, this is worth your attention.

The university has not asked candidates to apply online or send documents in advance. You simply need to walk in with your papers on the scheduled day.

Date and Venue

You are required to report to the Design Innovation Centre on 7 August 2026, which falls on a Friday, at 9:30 AM. This is where you will collect and submit the application form along with your documents.

The screening happens on the same day. Once your application is scrutinised on the spot, only those found eligible will be shortlisted. If you make it through, your interview will be held the same day at 11:30 AM in the Office of the Dean Academic Affairs.

Who Can Apply

The eligibility has two parts, and you need to meet both.

• A Bachelors degree, or a minimum four year diploma, in Design, Fine Arts, Applied Arts or Architecture, or a Bachelors Degree in Engineering with first class or its equivalent
• A Masters Degree, or an equivalent Postgraduate Diploma, with first class or equivalent, in a related field such as Industrial Design, Visual Communication, Fine Arts, Applied Arts, Architecture, Interaction Design, New Media Studies, Design Management, Ergonomics, Human Factors Engineering or Indian Craft Studies, along with related fields of Engineering or Design

Your qualification will be counted as it stands on the last date of submitting the application form, which in this case is the interview day itself.

Salary and Duration

If selected, you will be paid Rs 45,000 per month, unless you come from an architecture background, in which case the pay is Rs 50,000 per month for B Arch or M Arch qualification holders.

This is a contractual position for the year 2026, ending on 31 December 2026. If the post gets filled on a regular basis before that, the engagement could end earlier as well.

Leaves and vacations will follow the usual norms that the university applies to such contractual engagements.

How You Will Be Selected

There is no written test involved here. The university will select candidates purely on the basis of how they perform in the interview.

What You Should Keep in Mind

A few points from the notice are worth noting before you go.

• Carry your original documents relating to your qualification and experience, since these will need to be produced at the time of the interview itself
• No TA or DA will be paid for attending the interview, so plan your travel accordingly
• If you are selected, the university will not issue your salary or engagement order right away. It will wait for a satisfactory character and antecedent verification report from the relevant agencies first
• The university can terminate the contract midway if your performance is found unsatisfactory, though you would be given a month's notice or a month's salary in place of it
• If you wish to resign, you too will need to give a month's notice, or pay a month's salary in lieu of it
• Any dispute connected with this engagement will fall under the jurisdiction of the court of Srinagar only
