IUST Extends Last Date for B.Tech and Diploma Lateral Entry Admission 2026

IUST Extends Last Date for Lateral Entry Admission to B.Tech and Diploma Engineering Courses

If you were planning to apply for lateral entry admission in B.Tech or Diploma Engineering at the Islamic University of Science and Technology, Awantipora, you now have a few more days. IUST has extended the last date for submitting online application forms up to 31 July 2026.

This extension covers the programmes that were already advertised through Admission Notification No. 04 of 2026, dated 02 July 2026. So if you were still filling out your form, gathering documents, or simply ran out of time, this gives you a bit of breathing room.

What This Notice Is About

The Office of the Dean Academic Affairs at IUST issued this extension notice on 17 July 2026. It applies to candidates seeking lateral entry into the second year of B.Tech and Diploma Engineering programmes for the 2026 academic session. Lateral entry, as most of us know, is meant for students who already hold a relevant diploma or qualification and want to join engineering directly in the second year instead of starting from the first.

Courses Covered Under This Extension

The extension applies to the following programmes.

For B.Tech Lateral Entry, you can apply for Computer Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Robotics and Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Food Technology.

For Diploma Lateral Entry, the available options are Computer Science Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

So B.Tech has a wider range of branches on offer compared to the Diploma stream, which is something worth keeping in mind while choosing.

New Last Date to Apply

The last date to submit your online application form is now 31 July 2026. This is the only change made through this notice. Everything else related to eligibility, fee, and other conditions continues from the original notification.

How to Apply

You can apply online through https://admission.iust.ac.in. The university has also mentioned that you can reach the same application portal through the main website, www.iust.ac.in. There is no mention of any offline mode of application in this notice, so stick to the online process.

What Stays the Same

IUST has made it clear that all other terms and conditions attached to these programmes remain unchanged. Only the last date has moved. For details on eligibility, fee structure, or any other requirement, you will need to check the detailed Admission Notification No. 04 of 2026, which is available on www.iust.ac.in. This extension notice itself does not repeat those details, so do not skip reading the original notification if you have not already.

Need Help or Have a Query

If you have any doubt about the process or need more information, you can contact the Admission Officials at IUST on EPABX 01933-247955 or 01933-247954, extension 2086. You can also write to them at admissions@iust.ac.in.

What Should You Do Now

If you are eligible for lateral entry in any of the branches listed above, this is your window to get your application in before 31 July 2026. Since the deadline has already been pushed once, it is safer to complete your form early rather than waiting till the last day. For eligibility and other conditions, go through the original Admission Notification No. 04 of 2026 on the university website before you start filling the form.

This notice was issued under reference number IUST/Academics/26/1480, dated 17 July 2026, and signed by the Assistant Registrar, Academics.
